COMBA TELECOM WINS TOP PRIZE IN THE 2015 SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AWARDS BY THE CHINA INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATIONS

R&D ACHIEVEMENTS IN SON TECHNOLOGY FOR HETNETS ACCLAIMED BY NATIONAL TELECOMS BODY

04/26/2017:
(14 April 2016, Hong Kong) – Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba Telecom” or “the Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a global leading wireless solutions provider, announced it has won the first prize of the 2015 Science and Technology Awards presented by China Institute of Communications. Specifically, Comba Telecom and the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) were recognized for their joint achievements in the coordinative SON (Self-Organizing Network) technology in Heterogeneous Network (HetNet) space.

Partnering with BUPT, Comba Telecom conducted research on indoor HetNet architecture supporting packet data services, and made remarkable breakthroughs in developing the coordinative SON (Self-Organizing Network) technology. The Small Cell product developed based on this technology innovation were also awarded as China National Strategic Innovative Product by Ministry of Science and Technology of China.

The booming demand for mobile data services in indoor scenarios and high density environments such as stadiums requires scalable network capacity. To meet this challenge, wireless operators can employ a HetNet architecture by integrating small cells with the existing macrocells. The key technologies in HetNet planning including adopting micro base station with self-organizing features to reduce operations and maintenance cost, coordination between the small cell layer and the macro cell layer to minimize interference issues and therefore delivering the seamless and high-quality mobile broadband experience.

Mr. Zhang Yuejun, Vice Chairman & President of Comba Telecom, said, "We are delighted to receive the 1st prize in collaboration with BUPT. This award is an important recognition of our R&D capability. Our innovation in the coordinative SON technology can help operators tackle HetNet complexity and deploy the cost-effective network. In fact, at Mobile World Congress 2016, Comba Telecom has successfully showcased the Intelligent HetNet Solutions with positive feedback from our customers.”

Mr. Zhang concluded, "Looking forward, we will continue to work with industrial and academic partners to develop cutting-edge innovative technologies and maintain our industry leading position.”
