 Description:

Day 1 and Day 2: Comba

The RF 101 and CriticalPoint BDA NG training and certification class is a comprehensive 2-day course to provide in-depth RF training for public safety wireless communications network.  The training will prepare the student on how to properly conduct a link budget and avoid common mistakes when commissioning a public safety BDA.

The first day consists of a full 8-hours and instructs the student on RF principle and theories.  The second day covers 2 hours of instruction on the installation and commissioning of Comba’s CriticalPoint public safety BDA along with best practices.

After the training, an examination is given covering all the topics.  If passed, the student will receive a CriticalPoint BDA NG certification which is often required by the local AHJ when submitting plans for approval of the BDA.

Day 3: PCTEL

The third day consists of training and certification by our partner, PCTEL, who will be conducting their “PCTEL® Certified Public Safety Tester Training”.

This one-day, hands-on training session, you’ll learn how to use PCTEL’s Public Safety Testing Solution and SeeHawk® Central Workflow Automation Platform to efficiently plan, execute, and submit code-compliant grid-based coverage tests.

Upon successful completion, you’ll become a PCTEL® Certified Public Safety Tester. Certification is valid for 2 years and recognized by jurisdictions nationwide. You may also opt to be listed on the PCTEL website as a PCTEL® Certified Public Public Safety Tester.

Agenda:
     • Conducting a Grid based Inbuilding Coverage Test that Complies with Code
     • PCTEL Certification for Demonstrating Competence after Conducting a Test
     • Using SeeHawk® Central to Interact with Jurisdictions (AHJs and Radio Systems)
     • Overview of Uplink Monitoring and Testing
     • Best Practices – Testing for BDA Commissioning

This training requires an up-to-date PCTEL public safety testing kit with P25 technology option and access to a laptop. One kit may be shared by two registered trainees. We may also have a limited number of test kits available to borrow at in-person training events.
